Digby Scallop Days are back for the 35th year in 2010. This year the festival is running from Wednesday August 4th until Sunday the 8th and includes a large number of events that will take place across town. Each year the festival attracts up to ten thousand people to Digby to see, hear, and taste what the Bay of Fundy is all about. Parents come to enjoy the pride of the scallop capital of the world, and kids have plenty to keep entertained for the entirety of the weekend.

Festival Acadien de Clare |

The oldest Acadian festival in the world returns to the Clare region this summer, celebrating the culture and heritage of the Acadian people. The two week event showcases a variety of talents through concerts, art expositions, and a quilt showing. Tourists, locals, and Acadians from afar flood to the area for this festival every year and this year is gearing up to be one to remember with a wide range of events that will bring you to every corner of the Saint Mary’s Bay shore.

Digby Port Day |

The first annual Digby Port Day had a good turnout on Monday, June 28, bringing in citizens and business operators interested in the future of the Port of Digby. The focus of the event was spread over the repairs and future of the wharf, the Saint John-Digby Ferry, and the opportunities available through the Bay of Fundy. The Digby Harbour Port Association has made a number of improvements on the wharf over the years, and the future of the wharf is bright as the city looks to welcome pleasure boats, cruise ships, and hopes to be the centre of tidal energy through the Bay of Fundy.

Bear River Windmill |

The iconic windmill in Bear River was torn down in the beginning of June following an inspection of the building weeks beforehand. The original plan was a restoration, but after serious structural issues with the building were unearthed, and much debate throughout the community, it was decided that it would be in the community’s best interest to tear down the windmill.
