DATA Community Panels E-mail

date_panel_2Look out! There will be new visitor information signage in your area, thanks to the financial support from the Municipality of Digby, the Town of Digby, Nova Scotia Economic Development and the Department of Tourism Culture and Heritage. The Digby Area Tourism Association has commissioned the creation of community signs to help visitors to the area better understand what to do and see in our communities. These signs are part of the first phase the Digby Area Tourism Association has undertaken to help develop the natural tourism product in the area to a more market ready status. To do this, DATA has held community meetings to determine what members want their signs to say. In conjunction with this, DATA also worked with Form: Media to create a Digby area brand that will increase the area’s profile in a very competitive market. This brand with logo and slogan will be front and centre on all signage in the future, creating a consistent and common message amongst our tourism products. We live in a very dynamic and wondrous place that has many fascinating stories to be told. Be a tourist in your own backyard and look for our new community signage. You might find something you never knew was there.

New Digby Area Brand

The Digby Area Tourism Association has been busy developing a new brand for the area. “Fundy Coastlines and Cultures” represent the core assets the area has to offer. This brand will be included in all community and highway signage so visitors will know that they have arrived at a special destination. The Digby area is situated in a Fundy Aquarium Eco Zone which is part of the overall Fundy experience covering New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. This brand indicates our special place in this special Fundy region.

“This area is so diverse, the development of the Logo, the graphics and wording, was really hard work, “said DATA Chairperson Dianne Theriault.

Each of the communities in our Area, which consists of

Weymouth to Digby, Culloden area, Bear River, Cornwallis/Smith’s Cove, Town of Digby and Digby Neck and the Islands, is so unique ... heritage, culture, way of life.

What brings us together is that all our communities are connected to the Bay of Fundy and the ebb and flow of the tide.

DATA hopes the new logo will portray the “cultures and coastlines” that surround us. I feel strongly the graphic shows the movement and language of the waters of the Fundy.

DATA has just entered into a Three Phase Plan with the Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage as well as Nova Scotia Economic Development with support of the Town and the Municipality to build Tourism Infrastructure in our Area.

It is so important to have Industry support, to bring us to the level of commitment that the Province requires to move forward.

Inquiries and comments about any issue surrounding Tourism in Digby and Area will be greatly appreciated,” Concluded Dianne.
